Will of Elizabeth Hunt

Will of
Elizabeth Hunt
6 Jan 1796

In the Name of God Amen. I, Elizabeth Hunt, of Newberry County in the State of South Carolina, being weak in Body but Sound in Senses and Memory and being dissatisfied about my worldly affairs, calling to mind the Mortality of my Body knowing that it is appointed for all men once to [die], do make and ordain This to be my last will and Testament.
That is to say, principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul to Almighty God who gave it to me and my Body I recommend to the Earth to be Buried in a decent Christian Manner at the discretion of my Executors.
As touching such worldly Estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life my will and desire is that all the Expenses of my funeral and all my Just debts are paid.
I give dismiss and dispose of the Remainder of my Estate in the following Manner and form:
First of all, I give and bequeath to my sons James and John Abenathy [sic] all the money that is Belonging to me in Mercer Babb's hands.
I also give and bequeath to my son James one Cow to be delivered to him out of my Estate after my decease.
I also give and Bequeath to my Grand son James one feather Bed and furniture there unto belonging.
I also give and Bequeath to Rhoda my daughter-in-law my side saddle and wheel [Spinning wheel?].
Also my will and desire is that Isabel my Daughter should be paid Five Shillings Sterling out of my Estate after my decease.
I also Constitute ordain and appoint Mercer Babb and Samuel Niles to be the Executors of this my last will and Testament.
In witness where of I have here unto set my hand and seal this sixth day of Jan(ry) One Thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Six.
Signed sealed published pronounced and delivered by the said Elizabeth Hunt to be her last will and Testament in the presence of us who in her presence and in the presence of each other have here unto subscribed our names.
