Will of Sarah Abernathy
Dinwiddie County, VA

14 Nov 1838 [1858]

In the name of God Amen.
            I Sally Abernathy of the county of Dinwiddie in sound sence [sic] and mind do make and this my last will and testament after my decease to be buried in a Christian like manner out of my estate and all of my just debts to be paid.
            Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Boswell G. Abernathy to him and his heirs one dollar.
            Item. I give and bequeath to the heirs of my daughter Celia A. Lewis dec'd one dollar.
            Item. I give and bequeath unto my son Labon Abernathy one dollar.
            Item. I give to my son David Abernathy's heirs one dollar.
            Item. I give and bequeath to my son Freeman Abernathy one dollar.
            Item. I give and bequeath to my son Charles Abernathy one dollar.
            Item. I give and bequeath to my son James Abernathy one dollar.
            Item. I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Abernathy one dollar
            Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Susan Lewis one dollar.
            Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Perkins all the balance of my estate, consisting of sevety [seventy?] six of acres of land and all my household and kitchen furniture to her and her heires [sic] lawfully of her body and do leave her executor to my will without giving security as witness my hand this fourteenth day of November 1838 [1858], signed in prests [?]

At a County Court held for Dinwiddie County October 18th 1860 this last will and testament of Sally Abernathy deceased was this day presented in Court and proved by the oaths of John T. Goodwyn George J. Brown and James Lewis subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
